Argentinian Folk Vocal Group

Eduardo Ferraudi

Eduardo Ferraudi was born in 1964 in Buenos Aires. He was just a little boy when he first felt attracted to music.

“I was born singing. I was a member of my school choir, and at home I used to listen to The Ábalos Brothers and The Chalchaleros playing them on the Wincofón while playing drums next to the speaker.

One day when I was 8 or 9 years old, while walking to the factory with my dad, I listened to a musical piece composed of chanting. It was “El Pintao”, I remember because of the “boriu-bom-bom” part, by the Huanca Hua. The sound blew my mind, although back then I did not know why. It was the funny feeling of something equally enigmatic and beautiful.”

In his teens, Eduardo got involved in rock music, learning guitar by decoding the notes of both national and international rock songs.

“My favourite group back in those days was Queen, mostly because of Freddie Mercury's voice, but also because of the vocal arrangements which I enjoyed very much.”

When Eduardo decided to study music as a carrer in the University of Fine Arts in La Plata, he returned to his roots and began listening to folklore such as Raúl Carnota. From there, his talent and academic formation only grew expanding from different kinds of popular music (jazz, tango, rock, bossa nova).

“During my academic years, I experienced two defining moments that formed me as an artist. I joined the GCC, a group of choral singing directed by the Master Néstor Andrenacci, where I learned a lot about the dynamics shared between lyrics and music. I also met Master Manolo Juárez, who had the enormous generosity to teach me deep aspects of musical analysis between harmony and composition!”

Another activity that attracted Eduardo is the Direction of Choirs.

"I´m currently involved with two choirs: Ecunhi Choir and Vocal Consonante. The latter is a chamber choir which won 1st. Prize in the National Choir Contest of Venado Tuerto, in 2004.”

Presently Eduardo´s activities include the two choirs, Albahaca Vocal Quintet, teaching guitar in the IMMA (Avellaneda's Institute of Music) and Argentinian Folklore in the EMPA (Avellaneda's Popular Music School.) All of this, along with running courses linked to vocal arrangements with stylistics throughout the country, keeps Eduardo at the frontier of Argentinian folklore music.
