Argentinian Folk Vocal Group

Lorena Rojas

Lorena Rojas was born on September 23, 1978, in the city of Trelew, province of Chubut.

“Music was always around my house. Not only we listened to it, but also used to perform our own”.

“We used to play piano, guitar, and also sang. I was the last voice of the vocal quartet of daughters for family meetings.”

Still a girl, she attended diverse types of artistic activities: dancing, drawing, painting, sculpture and music. Someday, those interests and efforts would pay off.

“In 1997, I arrived to Buenos Aires to join the Conservatory of Music, where two of my sisters were already attending clasess, in order to go on with my guitar learning process”

By the end of 2000, she joined “Trilce”, one of Master Néstor Andrenacci´s choirs, suddenly, she discovered herself feeling both pleased and excited about choral and vocal music. Proof of it is that at present she is part of two vocal choirs (GCC, TRILCE), two vocal groups (OIGO VOCES, ALBAHACA) and a folklore group (EL TRASPIE -which she set up with two friends), in which she not only sings, but also makes her own musical arrangemets.

She was also a member of UBA´s Choir for two years, and was and is part of projects such as El ORFEON de BUENOS AIRES and SCHÖNE MUSIK.

Along with all of this, She got her Degree in Art Critic in IUNA (National University Institute of the Arts), in 2008.

“Similar taste regarding folklore Music and vocal arrangements were two of the main things that mattered on the process of becoming a part of ALBAHACA, which I have been from late 2005 up to date.”
